A bright spot during the pandemic

ME 21 Mechanisms Models

In my sophomore dynamics class, we were assigned a project with the end goal of being able to design a mechanism that displayed translation, rotation, and general plane motion. Selecting mechanism 398, the cam mechanism, I sought to produce this as a physical piece as I believe it to be a good challenge to try and recreate. The project was split into three phases, essentialy requiring me to generate kinematic equations and evaluations of rigid motion and use it to provide basis for the CAD model. The plots generated by the model would then be used to verify if I was on the right track.

Phases

  • Phase 1: Low- Fidelity Prototype

  • Phase 2: Math and CAD Models

  • Phase 3: High-Fidelity Protoype
