For senior design, I had to design a shelf with the primary constraint involving the amount of material available: a single board of approximately 4’ x 7” x 1”, plus fasteners.

I sought out to make a nightstand leave next to my bed to place my phone for charging, and other items that i like to have on my bedside. I used to leave my stuff on the floor next to my bed, but with this new nightstand i don’t have to do that anymore.

From developing the sketch, then proceded to model the shelf in solidworks, and plan out the type of cuts to be made for the nightstand. Used a chopsaw and table saw to cut up the wood. Learned how to use a jigsaw to create the ridged cutouts inserting the standing beams within the shelfs I cut.
